Shaving 101

How To Shave Your Legs Properly

Whether you’re shaving your legs, underarms, or pubic region, all of these tips apply. But for the purpose of this post, this one is specifically catered to shaving your legs.

Your body, your choice. There is no set timeline you have to follow when it comes to shaving or removing hair anywhere on your body. Everyone’s hair grows differently and at different times. Just because your friends are shaving, it doesn’t mean you need to start as well if you feel like you’re not ready.

Increased growth of pubic hair, leg hair, armpit hair, and facial hair all naturally come with puberty and age. Everyone experiences it whether it’s on a small or large scale. It can seem like a pain inconvenience and shaving isn’t something that you should feel obligated to do, EVER. That said, a lot of people enjoy the feeling of having extra smooth skin without any distraction and they typically achieve this their first time by shaving.

Shaving can be intimidating at first. After all, you’re gliding a razor with sharp blades up and down your body, it’s a scary thought. You can set yourself up for success and ensure you have a positive experience. Follow these steps to ensure you are shaving properly.

    1. Clean skin

Having a shower and generally washing your body is important as it hydrates your skin and softens your hair.

     2. Prep the skin

A step that most people neglect is using a scrub to get rid of any dead skin cells before shaving. Using our Sweet Escape or Nude Exfoliating Scrub will ensure that any part of your body that you're shaving will be left extra smooth and soft.

     3. Prep the hair

If your leg hair is longer than usual, we recommend you The Francesca Trimmer™. The advantage to using Francesca before you go into shave with a regular razor is that all of your hair will consistently be the same length. Doing this step will keep your razor lasting longer as shaving long hair can cause your blade to become dull faster. You could also completely ditch the blade, and only use an electric trimmer to remove hair from your legs.

     4. Shave

The star of the show, shaving! Everyone has their own technique and preference when it comes to shaving but we recommend using a razor with a sharp blade.

     5. Oil up

Once you get out of the shower, we recommend using our Nude Oil to prevent ingrown hairs and or using Sweet Escape to hydrate the skin. Depending on what your main problems are, you can choose to use the two products together or just choose to use one. Make sure you apply the oil within the first two minutes of exiting the shower. It’s best to apply it right away because your pores are open from the heat of the shower.
