Why You Should Be Exfoliating Your Bikini Line

Why You Should Be Exfoliating Your Bikini Line

Ingrown hairs, clogged pores, inflammation, and other skin irritations are bound to happen if you are removing hair around your pubic region. While using one of Bushbalm™ Skincare's 100% natural oils daily will help with this, you also need to ensure you add exfoliating to your skincare, everywhere routine.

Before we get into it, when we say down there, we mean the external skin found on the bikini area - like the bikini line, top, and sides. You should never exfoliate the inside of your vagina.

How To Exfoliate Your Bikini Line

Bumps along your bikini line

Do you ever notice red bumps along your bikini line after removing hair? It's very common, but can be prevented with the right skincare routine.

Exfoliating before removing hair

Exfoliating before removing hair is very important! If you don't exfoliate before getting a wax, sugar, or before using a razor to shave you will increase the chances of getting ingrown hairs. Exfoliating helps your body remove dead skin and rejuvenates your skin's cell turnover process. Without proper exfoliation, your older skin cells, as well as the debris that comes with them, can get trapped in bacteria by blocking your pores. This then turns into ingrown hairs, rashes, irritations, dark spots, and even an odour or infection.

How to exfoliate your bikini line

When exfoliating your bikini line with the Nude Exfoliating Body Scrub, or the Sweet Escape Exfoliating Body Scrub, use your hands and work the scrub into the area. You should be using about a quarter amount of the sugar-based scrub and work in a small circular motion. Once you are done, rinse the area well. Do this after you've already cleaned the area. Once you are done, apply one of the Bushbalm™ soothing oils to help moisturize, keep skin soft, and prevent ingrown hairs.

Skincare Routine

Exfoliating is an important step in your skincare, everywhere routine. For our soothing ingrown hair prevention and treatment oils to properly work, you need to exfoliate. When you exfoliate your skin, you are essentially removing the top layer of dead skin. This is crucial and will help your oil sink in even deeper into the skin.

Exfoliating Tips

For best results, you should exfoliate 2-3 times a week. It's important to not over-exfoliate, especially when it comes to your bikini line, as this area is already sensitive.
