Dark Spots

What Are Dark Spots?

Dark spots refer to patches of skin that are darker in color than the skin surrounding it. The contrast of light and dark patches creates the appearance of an uneven skin tone. This (very common) skin condition affects all races.

What Causes Dark Spots?

Dark spots are caused by the overproduction of melanin in the skin; melanin is a brown pigment that attempts to protect the skin from harsh effects such as wounds and/or UV radiation. When the body produces extra melanin, portions of the pigment will inevitably be deposited in the same area. These melanin deposits create the dark spots that appear on the surface of the skin.

What Triggers Dark Spots?

  • Prolonged Sun Exposure¬†
  • Skin Injuries/Inflammation
  • Shave on Dry Skin

How To Treat Dark Spots/Sun Spots

Dark Spot Treatment Oil

Naturally fading dark spots and sun spots requires a consistent body care routine. Here is our recommended regimen to target and treat your dark spots:

Step #1: Breakdown Melanin Pigments

Massage your skin with our Nordic Dry Brush to break down the melanin pigments on the skin’s surface. We created our dry brush with all natural bristles to cater to sensitive skin and avoid irritation. Gently buff the skin (think legs, arms, tummy, tush, and bikini line) in an upward motion towards your heart. We recommend using this product 1-3 times a week (pre-shower) - depending on how sensitive your skin is.

Step #2: Lighten dark spots

Treat your dark spots to a gentle yet effective scrubbing in the shower. The Bermuda Scrub is infused with essential oils and nourishing ingredients, such as lemon essential oil, that will lighten and brighten the skin. Take a small handful of scrub and gently massage it in a circular motion onto your dark spots. For the best results, use in the shower 2-3 times a week - depending on how sensitive your skin is.

Step #3: Treat

The Bermuda Treatment Oil will replenish your skin and treat your dark spots. This formula contains essential oils that will lighten the skin and fade the appearance of dark spots. We recommend gently massaging the Bermuda Oil into your dark spots after showering. For the best results, use twice daily.

Step #4: Repeat

With consistent use the products in this collection will reduce the appearance of dark spots and help prevent future occurrences of dark spots.
