How To Care For Your Skin Down There After A Wax

How To Care For Your Skin Down There After A Wax

The worst is over! Now it's time to properly care for your skin after being waxed, and take the necessary steps to make sure it's smooth sailing down there and at your next appointment. We asked a few of our esthetician partners for some advice on how to take care of your skin after a wax.

Tip 1: Take it easy!

Hopefully, you arrived at your wax appointment in loose-fitting clothing, and you plan on staying in them. One easy thing you can do upon getting home is ensuring you change into a clean pair of breathable underwear. We recommend trying Calita Intimates for a buttery soft and super comfortable pair of panties.

In addition to your choice of clothing, avoid exercising, sweating, moving around too much, and any sexual activities that would cause friction on your skin.

Tip 2: Stay hydrated

Ensure you are drinking water before and after your wax. Your body needs it.

To soothe and protect the skin around your bikini line, legs, or armpits, apply a non-comedogenic ingrown hair treatment oil to the waxed area daily, but especially for the first 3 days following your wax appointment. Always wash your hands before applying the oil anywhere on your body.

Another way you can stay hydrated and soothe your skin after a wax is by applying Sweet Escape Oil. This scented ingrown hair treatment oil is packed with natural ingredients, including tangerine essential oil which has extra hydrating and rejuvenating properties. It's a top pick and sold at over 500 waxing studios across North America.

Tip 3: Keep exfoliating

If you're wondering whether to exfoliate before or after your wax, you can do both – but after waxing, exfoliating with one of the Bushbalm sugar scrubs is a must. Two or three times a week will be enough to help you avoid any ingrown hairs and bumps that can come when the hair starts to grow back. To up your exfoliating game, try using a dry brush before the shower. Dry brushing is a great skin detox, and an amazing way to exfoliate your skin. For best results with dry brushing, do this twice a week.

Tip 4: Prevent ingrown hairs

Ingrown hairs are normal and common, but they can be treated and prevented. If you are prone to getting ingrown hairs, it's time to add Nude Oil to your daily skincare, everywhere routine. Nude is packed with tea tree oil which is the antibacterial agent used to fight pesty ingrown hairs. It's pretty much scentless, fast-absorbing, cruelty-free, and safe for all skin types. Many estheticians apply Nude Oil immediately after waxing the skin because it can quickly bring down redness, soothe the skin, and most importantly, prevent ingrown hairs.

Tip 5: Treat dark spots

One of the worst parts about ingrown hairs around the bikini line is the stubborn dark spots they can leave behind. To lighten dark spots, start applying Bermuda Oil daily. You’ll want to apply Bermuda Oil within the first two minutes of getting out of the shower because that is when your skin is most absorbent. While it's completely fine to do so, you don't have to apply Bermuda to all of the waxed skin areas. You can simply treat it as a dark spot treatment.

Tip 6: Schedule your next wax appointment

After 4 weeks, you are probably ready for your next wax. Don't shave in between appointments! If you can't make time for your next wax appointment, use the Francesca Trimmer to give yourself a little trim.

5 Reasons Why You Should Be Moisturizing Your Bum

5 Reasons Why You Should Be Moisturizing Your Bum

Here's why you should keep your tush feeling smooth 24/7.

You take facial skin care seriously, but have you ever considered showing your tush some extra love? Yes, your face goes through a lot but if you think about it, your tush might be going through more... I mean you do sit on your tush all the time.

 Ways To Prevent Bum Acne

Here’s a list of reasons why you should moisturize and treat your tush daily.

Helps with Butt Acne

Acne can make your skin feel more greasy and oily than normal so moisturizing might be the last thing on your mind to help solve the issue. That said, your skin begins to produce more oil when the body is dry. These oils then begin to clog your pores. Replace those natural oils that can cause acne by applying oil-free and non-comedogenic moisturizing on your tush. Bikini season is right around the corner and while acne on your behind is totally normal, it's the last thing you should be thinking about in the summer.

Softens the Appearance of Stretch Marks

Many women find they get stretch marks during and after pregnancy and a lot of women find they get it just from normal growth spurts. Stretch marks are normal, making it common for so many to have them. Sometimes stretch marks can be very red, and look dry. There are so many different stretch mark treatments out there, but it’s important to start with the basics - smoothing the surface of your skin. Exfoliate with our Nude Exfoliating Scrub and then apply a cream that will help naturally tighten, hydrate and firm the skin like our Tush cream. Scrubbing away the irregularities of the surface will help with the appearance of stretch marks. Once you're done scrubbing and have rinsed off, apply a hydrating and firming cream that's going to help lock moisture in and soften the appearance of stretch marks.

Reduces the Look of Cellulite

A combination of dry brushing and moisturizing can reduce the cellulite on your bum. Cellulite isn’t something to be ashamed of - after all, most women have it and they normally notice it behind their thighs and on their bum. Gently use the Nordic Dry Brush on the skin in an upward circular motion to increase circulation in your bum and thighs. Do this right before the shower and within two minutes of hopping out of the shower, be sure to moisturize the area you dry brush. Moisturizing is essential within this process as it helps soothe and restore moisture in the skin, so don't forget to apply your Tush cream after the shower!

Keeps Your Tush Looking and Feeling Firm

Although your bum is not as sensitive as your face, there is still a daily loss of skin cells that will leave your tush vulnerable to dryness, and dryness can naturally lead to wrinkles. Keep your bum looking healthy and firm by moisturizing daily.

Why You Should Dry Brush Your Body Before Working Out

You probably know about dry brushing and all of the great benefits that come with it. Why You Should Dry Brush

Dry brushing is a powerful way to exfoliate and detox the skin. The Nordic Dry Brush is made with firm, natural fibres that will work wonders on your skin. Doing this before a workout, instead of after or before a shower is going to open up your pores. By opening up your pores, your body will eliminate more toxins throughout the workout.

When You Should Dry Brush

Try dry brushing for a couple of minutes before you begin a workout and you'll find that it will help intensify the detox effect. Whether you are doing a HIIT class, running, spinning, or just headed to the gym, get out your Nordic Dry Brush a couple of minutes before you start the workout, and get the full benefit of sweating and detoxing your skin.

Regardless of when you dry brush, it's extremely important to follow up with a shower, and then apply a moisturizing product, like our Sweet Escape Hydrating Oil.
